Bowers & Jones managing director Jane Sommerville was invited to share her thoughts on the economy during an interview on Greatest Hits radio’s West Midlands breakfast show.
In an interview aired on the Greatest Hits Radio Breakfast show on March 11, Jane was asked to describe how Bowers & Jones was affected by the global pandemic and to provide her perspective on the current state of the economy.
Bowers & Jones, a world-renowned leader in the design, manufacture, and refurbishment of steel rolling mill products, was acquired by managing director Jane Sommerville and financial director Nicola Owen in 2020. During this period the company faced the challenges of the Covid pandemic and relocating its premises to Bilston during the lockdown.
Speaking to Greatest Hits radio, Jane said: “The pandemic caused supply chain issues and a demand to change. We now have a change in government and global instability, the cause is different but the outcomes could be very similar.
“What I would like to see in terms of the Ukraine conflict is some stability in terms of global trade, whether that is likely to happen is another thing.”
Jane added: “If Putin, Trump and Zelensky decide to all fall out and it gets much worse, I don’t think the industry will face crisis, the whole world will. I’m not a pessimist, I’m an optimist and I think they will get it sorted out.”
