Bowers & Jones was crowned Export Business of the Year at the ceremony held on Wednesday April 9 at the Macdonald Burlington Hotel in Birmingham.
The business was also named as a finalist for the Manufacturer of the Year (under £25m) award.
This achievement follows the company’s previous success at the Black Country Chamber of Commerce Awards in November, where they won the Manufacturing & Engineering category and received commendations in the International Trade and Business of the Year categories.
Bowers & Jones managing director Jane Sommerville said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have won Export Business of the Year. This recognition validates our team’s hard work and dedication to manufacturing excellence. As a traditional Black Country manufacturer with global reach, the award reflects our commitment to innovation and quality in everything we do.”
The Made in the Midlands Awards, now in their 15th year, celebrate the region’s most innovative and dynamic manufacturers. The award win recognises Bowers & Jones’ outstanding achievements in export growth and manufacturing excellence.
Established in 1955 and acquired by Jane Sommerville and Nicola Owen in 2020, Bowers & Jones has experienced four consecutive years of turnover growth. The company serves more than 300 customers across the UK, North America, Europe and beyond, and is a world leader in the design, manufacture and refurbishment of roll tooling and rolling mill products.
The business specialises in manufacturing tools used to roll long products such as welded and seamless tube and pipe, steel sections and complex copper extrusions. Its products are increasingly used in non-steel applications including electrical conduction and heating cable.
With significant growth set to continue through newly secured contracts in the USA, Bowers & Jones continues to strengthen its position as a leading manufacturer in the international metal forming industry.
